SERVE WITH NAIM
NAIM welcomes both short-term and long-term service opportunities:
Short-term
NAIM offers several short-term opportunities. The most recommended is our summer program, Summer Ministry Initiative. Occasionally, short-term workers will begin with SMI and continue on with an Internship for up to one year.
If you live near the Abbotsford, British Columbia area, volunteer opportunities exist in our head office, especially in administration, technology, and office services. Please get in touch if you are interested in volunteering in our office.
Long-term
NAIM has two categories for long-term service in Native communities:
Missionaries live and serve in a Native community on a full-time, around the clock basis. They minister in a variety of creative ways to build relationships with the local people, to help with community needs, and to share their faith in Jesus Christ. Regular missionaries are faith supported, meaning they raise their own salary through the giving of churches, family and friends.
Community Member Missionaries use their profession and skills to work in a Native community, ideally with a Native employer and coworkers; minister in and out of their workplace. It is an effective platform to model the Christian life. Community member missionaries earn a living through a ‘regular’ job, yet attend conferences and retreats, receive supervision and training, have access to resources and support tools, and belong to the NAIM team with a shared vision for reaching First Nations people for Christ.
Individuals who are interested in serving long-term with NAIM usually participate on a Summer Ministry Initiative team, Internship, or similar cross-cultural ministry experience before applying. We believe this is the best way to learn about NAIM and explore whether joining our team will be a good fit for you and for us.
